Township Wide-Recreation Centre (TWRC)

The project will construct a new recreation centre in the Township of King, Ontario. The scope of the work will be finalized following completion of the design, but it expected to involve constructing twin pad ice surfaces, an indoor year-round recreational pool and track, gym equipment areas and multi-purpose fitness studio spaces for yoga, aerobics and spin. The recreation centre will also house a multi-use field house with operable doors connecting to surrounding outdoor amenities, including baseball and soccer fields. The project is exploring a number of energy efficient measures through the design, including but not limited to, natural ventilation, reclaimed waste heat from the refrigeration system and open loop geothermal heat exchange. The project will enable the Township Wide-Recreation Centre to improve access to recreation by allowing more fitness, skate and swim programs to be offered for the community and surrounding regions.
