Description
Description | Toys 'R' Us Canada, once operating 103 stores after expansion by billionaire Doug Putman, is significantly downsizing. In 2025, at least 38 stores have closed, and another 12 are up for sale. The closures are part of a strategic downsizing amid competitive pressures and financial challenges, including the receivership of Putman's family company, Everest Toys. Several properties are being marketed for sale or lease, with some stores selling for at least $15 million each. The closures have led to job losses and the company is testing new store concepts like Playlab to revitalize the brand. |
