Description | The Trade and Transport Facilitation in Southeast Europe Project for Bosnia and Herzegovina, aims at modernizing, and strengthening customs administrations, and border control agencies, in a collaborative effort between the regional Governments, the European Union, the United States, and the Bank. Its main objectives are to reduce non-tariff costs to trade and transport, and, to reduce smuggling, and corruption at border crossings. The components include: 1) construction of buildings, and canopies at the Raca border crossing, and an inland truck terminal (Novi Grad). Additionally, weighing scales, and laboratory equipment will be supplied, including the corresponding training. Technical services should monitor the performance of the country's Customs Administration, while training to enhance inter-agency awareness will be provided; 2) construction of border stations at Izacic, and Orasje, reconstruction of inland terminals, and information technology infrastructure. Technical services will monitor the performance of the Federation Customs Administration, while training should enhance inter-agency cooperation; 3) conventional, and distance learning training in logistics, and, international freight transport, in cooperation with international professional associations. Public-private partnerships will be enhanced using a virtual forum, to facilitate trade development; and, 4) regional, and national services, supported by advisors in procurement, accounting, and external auditing, including the establishment of a financial management system, and training for project management, and implementation. |
