Trai Digital Consent Pilot Project for Promotional Communications

Planned

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) is launching a three-month pilot project requiring digital permission from consumers before companies can send promotional calls or texts. This initiative involves telecom operators and banks to give consumers greater control over marketing communications and reduce unwanted spam. The project includes onboarding principal entities like banks onto a Consent Registration Function (CRF) integrated with distributed ledger technology (DLT) for real-time consent recording and revocation.
