Trail - Cambridge Creek and Violin Lake Ecosystem Restoration

Four dams owned by the City of Trail once used for drinking water will be fully decommissioned so no artificial water storage remains. The dams and associated infrastructure are old, need expensive repair and costly regular maintenance, and are an increasing liability for the City of Trail. Violin Lake, a natural lake, along with Cambridge Creek, Goodeve Creek, and 34ha of natural wetlands, swamps, floodplain, and riparian areas will be restored following removal of the dams. This action will increase natural capacity to adapt to climate change and mitigate effects from extreme weather events by reducing and negating the effects of flooding in Canada and the United States.
