Trail-Memorial Centre-Old Library Retrofit

The project will retrofit the Old Library at the Trail Memorial Centre in order to serve the recreational needs of the general public. The renovation will revitalize an unused section of the facility, re-opening it to the public by expanding currently underserved fitness and community programming areas. The expansion of these services will ensure safe program delivery in of services to the community. The 72 year old Trail Memorial Centre facility is a main focal point in the downtown area and deemed the hub of the community and is currently in an unusable state. The building is home to two small multi-purpose spaces, a gymnasium, two ice surfaces, the curling club and a commercial kitchen. The facility is noted as being a critical piece of infrastructure for the revitalization of the downtown core as well as the recreation departments service offerings. As a result of COVID-19 and the associated restrictions and protocols, the need for larger spaces to house community recreation programs is essential. The project works include: - renovation of approx. 5000 sq ft; - removal and replacement of lighting fixtures; - lead paint abatement; - electrical and plumbing; - roof replacement; - replacement of windows; - replacing of flooring; - complete works to create an exercise and programming space; and, - all related works.
