Description
Description | The TRAVAR 2 project is the result of a thorough analysis of lawyers’ current training needs in EU law, undertaken by two pan-European lawyers’ organisations (ELF and CCBE) and 10 Member States’ Bars. The training needs identified are aligned with various of the objectives of the Justice Programme’s 2024 call for proposals on training of justice professionals, mainly on digitalisation of justice in the EU (which is the major area to be addressed by the project’s training activities), but also on other fields which, at the same time, are priorities in the call and where lawyers’ training needs are active. This is the case for the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights, the European Public Prosecutor’s Office and EU sanctions. Based on these needs, TRAVAR 2 has the following objectives: (a) to train at least 1.500 lawyers from 26 EU Member States through the holding of 6 webinars concerning various aspects of the digitalisation of justice and other topics also considered as priorities by the call for proposals; (b) to train, exchange best practices and facilitate networking for 270 lawyers from 9 Member States on the impact of digitalisation on EU criminal law and on the daily practice of EU criminal defence lawyers through the holding of 9 in-person seminars; (c) to make available to EU lawyers the material resulting from the project’s training activities through free consultation and download from ELF’s website; (d) to undertake communication activities targeting lawyers and EU Bars; (e) to continue contributing to the EU’s objective of increasing lawyers’ training on EU law. The main target group of the project will be lawyers (at least 1.770). The main result of the project will be increased knowledge in key areas of EU law (which are also priorities of the call for proposals) for EU lawyers, who will be able to give better advice to European citizens and businesses. The production of training material will also be a lasting result of the project. |
