Description
Description | The TRAVAR project is the result of a thorough analysis of lawyers’ current training needs in EU law, undertaken by two pan-European lawyers’ organisations (ELF and CCBE) and 8 Member States’ Bars. The training needs identified are aligned with some of the objectives of the Justice Programme’s 2023 call for proposals on training of justice professionals, namely on the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights and some of the rights enshrined in it, on digitalisation of justice, and on some of the directives on procedural rights in criminal proceedings. Based on these needs, TRAVAR has the following objectives: (a) to train 2.000 lawyers from 26 EU Member States in the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights through 8 webinars on the topics detailed in the proposal; (b) to train and facilitate enhanced networking for 205 lawyers from 9 Member States on 3 of the directives on procedural rights in criminal proceedings, through the holding of 7 in-person events; (c) to produce 3 new infosheets (Austria, Romania and Bulgaria) on the 3 procedural rights directives covered by this project and to update the 6 infosheets (Cyprus, France, Hungary, Spain, Poland and Greece) that were produced under the EU-funded CrimiLAW project; (d) to undertake communication activities to reach the largest possible group of potential participants in the various project training activities and to keep EU Bars and lawyers informed about the project’s state of play; and (e) to contribute to the EU’s objective of continuing training on EU law reaching 15% of lawyers in the EU by 2024. The main target group of the project will be lawyers (at least 2.205). The main result of the project will be increased knowledge in key areas of EU law (like the EU Charter and EU criminal law) for EU lawyers, who will be able to give better advice to European citizens and businesses, and another lasting result will be the production of training material. |
