Description

Description

LowTEMP 2.0 is an extension stage to the regular project “LowTEMP – Low Temperature District Heating for the Baltic Sea Region”, which aims at reducing energy waste and greenhouse gas emissions in the Baltic Sea Region (BSR), by enhancing the energy efficiency of district heating (DH) supply. In the region, DH is very widely spread, but at the same time, existing systems do not comply with increased energy efficiency standards and are often technically outdated. Low Temperature District Heating (LTDH) offers a solution for optimised and sustainable DH supply, esp. when new systems and grids are installed. It enables the integration of renewable energy and surplus heat. Within the regular project, capacity building is one work focus and a training programme on LTDH implementation, the “LowTEMP training package”, is developed. It will be tested and partners will be trained as trainers. At the end of the regular project, it will be available on the project website for download. Due to the immense need and demand for knowledge among the target groups, project partners decided that it is necessary to increase the durability and uptake of the training programme in the extension stage project “LowTEMP 2.0”. Here, the partners will adapt the training package to their national framework conditions and initiate a translation into national languages. Afterwards, they will implement three to five training seminars in their countries with the target groups, i.e. municipal and regional representatives being in charge of DH issues, DH suppliers and energy utilities, energy agencies, planners and engineers. Many representatives of the target group joined LowTEMP 2.0 as associated partners, committed themselves to participate in LowTEMP 2.0 training seminars and also named their special fields of interest. The implementation of the training seminars will be accompanied and evaluated in order to guarantee traceability of outcomes and effects of the training seminars. In addition to the dissemination of the training programme, LowTEMP 2.0 supports the durability of the project results and a far-reaching dissemination of the content by developing an e-learning programme. These free online courses meet the requirements of modern learners that prefer interactive content and remote courses, which offer the possibility to take part in educational programmes without leaving the workplace. To make the training seminars and the LowTEMP 2.0 e-learning programme known, project partners will promote and advertise the LowTEMP 2.0 offers to relevant stakeholders when attending thematically related events and via social media. LowTEMP 2.0 will result in a significantly enhanced knowledge and competence on sustainable DH systems and LTDH with the projects’ target groups. This increase in knowledge is necessary to enable them to upgrade existing DH systems or plan new LTDH grids, both being a precondition to make heat supply in the BSR more energy efficient and climate-friendly.
