Description

The U.S. Consulate General, Kolkata will host training programs in a one year period in Kolkata, India and to include at least one of the two cities of Patna, Bihar and Guwahati, Assam. The program will focus on journalism ethics, standards, citizen journalism, digital media and advocacy through reporting. The program will bring U.S. experts to conduct a two day workshop in each of the cities with participation from mid-career and entry-level journalists, and journalism school students as attendees. The awardee will work together with Indian journalism school sub-awardees in Kolkata (West Bengal), and additionally one or both sub-awardees in the cities of Guwahati (Assam) and Patna (Bihar). One significant objective of this grant is to strengthen the connections between American and Indian journalists and journalism schools. At the end of the training program, the awardee will work with Indian journalism school sub-awardees to develop practical recommendations that they can publish through the local journalism schools in Kolkata and the secondary city that they will hold the workshops in. Any publication must be approved in advance by the U.S. Consulate General, Kolkata and U.S. Embassy New Delhi. (Please refer full announcement for details).
