Description
Description | The Green Gecko project aims to tackle climate change by enhancing engineering education in Southeast Asia. Engineers are crucial in designing and implementing solutions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and build a sustainable future. The project has identified two primary challenges: the lack of integration of climate change-related issues in engineering education and the lack of engagement between universities and industry. To address these, Green Gecko will introduce a new pedagogical approach to equip the workforce with the necessary knowledge and skills for carbon neutrality. It will bring together four universities in Thailand, four in the Philippines, and four in Europe, with strong support from industry partners. This project builds on the CBHE GECKO project (2017-2021), which aimed to enhance engineering education by adding soft / managerial skills. To achieve its objectives, it will: (1) Develop new modules and methodologies to train engineers and teachers. (2) Establish a network to strengthen collaboration between academia and industry. (3) Conduct a pilot phase to test the effectiveness of the training modules with students. |
