Description | The Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) is a gas pipeline project that will link Italy, Greece, and Albania to carry gas from Azerbaijan's Shah Deniz II field to Europe. The project aims to reduce Europe's dependence on existing gas suppliers and is expected to become operational in 2017, carrying 10 billion cubic metres of gas per year, scalable to 20 billion cubic metres. TAP is considered the most feasible and economical project among competing pipelines and involves an investment of 2 billion Euros in Albania. The project will also facilitate Albania's gasification at a low cost and turn the country into a gas distributor for the region. |
