Trans-Canada Highway 1 - Quartz Creek

This project will upgrade approximately 4.9 km of the Trans-Canada Highway (TCH) and replace the Quartz Creek Bridge No. 1607. The west limit of the project begins approximately 1.7 km west of the existing bridge and extends through its terminus 3.4 km east of the existing bridge. The proposed highway realignment will shorten the corridor slightly. The key elements of the project scope are: • Replacement of the existing Quartz Creek Bridge No. 1607, which is nearing the end of its design life. • Improve approximately 4.9 km of the TCH by upgrading to a four-lane cross-section for a distance of approximately 4.4 km with a 2.6 m flush median and provisions for median barrier. • Horizontal curvature and other geometrics improvements for 100 km/h design speed. • Auxiliary lanes for access to and from Quartz Creek Forest Service Road (FSR) and maintain access to and from Heather Road and un-named FSR, and the access road east of the bridge. • Replacement of the Wiseman Creek Culvert with a new bridge.
