Description | The Trans Mountain Pipeline Expansion Project (TMX) tripled the shipping capacity of the existing pipeline transporting oil from Alberta to British Columbia and Washington State. Originally proposed by Kinder Morgan in 2013, the project faced suspension in 2018 due to economic viability concerns, after which the Canadian government purchased the pipeline and resumed construction. The project was completed in May 2024 at a cost of CAD 34.2 billion, significantly exceeding the original estimate of CAD 5.4 billion. |
