Description | Transcanada del Bajio was awarded the contract to build, own and operate a natural gas transmission line from Salamalanca (Guanajuato) to Aguascalientes (Aguascalientes). The 203-KM pipeline has a capacity of 2.55 million cubic meters of natural gas per day. The company will supply gas to the distribution system of the Bajio region, which is currently operated by the government but will be given as a concession to the private sector. The 30-year contract signed between Transcanada del Bajio and the government has a 30-year duration, renewable for periods of 15 years. The project company was initially owned by TransCanada Pipelines, but, in Nov. 2000, it was fully acquired by Gaz de France. Transcanada del Bajio is investing US$ 56.4 million during the first five years of the project.
