Transcona Sewer Relief

Upgrade the flood protection in the Transcona Area to have no surcharge within 2.4 m of ground level for a 10-year MacLaren design storm event. Phase 3 and 4 are remaining. These phases will complete the planned relief works for the sewer district. The 10-year MacLaren design storm event is the minimum service level standard for basement flood relief projects. It is a “made in Winnipeg” rainfall frequency curve. The existing basement flood protection in the Transcona sewer district is below the minimum service level established for the City of Winnipeg. The proposed works will include new sewer construction and sewer replacements that will provide the minimum level of service for basement flood protection, during the design rainfall event, in the Transcona Area.
