Description | Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy is providing around EUR 170 million to support battery cell production and other transformation technologies in the country’s coal regions. The funding will support seven projects across different mining areas, including battery recycling, production capacity expansion for gas diffusion layers, development and manufacture of next-generation battery cells, production of battery-grade lithium salts, stationary energy storage systems, innovative iron-air batteries, and expansion of capacity for high-voltage insulated components. The projects are expected to create around 600 new industrial jobs and up to 3,000 additional jobs in supply chains. |
