Description
Description | Planning Project that is being considered based on economic and transportation demand forecasts, potential funding, policies and resources, and coordination with counties and cities Design Design engineered drawings based on viable alternative from Concept to set required area needed for property acquisition- Right of Way (ROW). Engineer collaborates with Environmental to avoid, minimize and mitigate impacts to natural and cultural resources adjacent to and within the project limits. Right-of-Way During this phase, funding to purchase property is authorized and individual property negotiations begin with the affected property owners. Construction Funding for construction is authorized, a contractor is hired and project construction begins. Open to Traffic Project is open to traffic but might have punch list items to complete. Project Delivery Methods This series of improvement projects along SR 316 from SR 20 in Gwinnett County to SR 10 in Oconee County are expected to be delivered using Design-Bid-Build through the Office of Program Delivery or Design-Build through the Office of Alternative Delivery. Project phases may be combined or overlap. Design-Bid Build During the Design phase, GDOT completes design plans for a contractor to bid on and ultimately build the project. Design-Build During the design phase, GDOT provides preliminary plans (approximately 30%), identifies community/environmental resources and commitments made, and places a bid out to a contractor to produce final plans using innovation and cost saving measures while meeting commitments made to the public as a result of the environmental process. The contractor then builds the project as they complete/receive GDOT approval on final plans. The project may be built in phases, as final plans are further developed. |
