Description | TRACEEP therefore aims to build and strengthen Africa’s capacity to manage and govern climate and climate-related risks in the water sector-aligned to the Global Gateway Flagship Projects through: 1) research questions on livelihood security and biodiversity and ecosystem preservation; water for agrifood systems and food security; data infrastructure for decision making as well as decarbonisation effects on water resources; 2) curriculum innovation and transformation of existing academic programmes in partner institutions. Specific areas for innovations are systems and complexity thinking, as well as transdisciplinary, engaged and participatory scholarship for climate-related outcomes-based learning with a focus on climate prediction and forecasting, adaptation, mitigation, resilience, model development, climate governance and big data analytics; 3) fostering strategic partnerships and networks involving actors from academia, policy and industry to enhance the relevance of the curriculum in the partner institutions in relation to climate change to enhance skills to contribute to the Global Gateway Flagship projects; 4) co-developing short courses across to water-related climate risks to equip the students with green skills and competencies to manage and govern climate risks; 5) partnering with industries and other workplace organizations (e.g, government, non-governmental organization,community-based organizations etc.) to prepare students for employment through internship and traineeship in the green economy sector; 6) develop and further strengthen the partner institutions capacity to manage academic mobility and implement systems and measures for quality enhancement and assurance; 7) strengthen teaching and transdisciplinary research capacity in the field of climate change and water through enhanced collaborations; 8) establish mobility protocols and procedures to accelerate student and staff mobility to promote multiculturalism and internationalization. |
