Transit do Brasil Ltda provides local and long-distance telephone services in certain cities in the States of Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais, Parana, Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul. Transit received licenses to operate in the regions where one of the mirror companies are not delivering services. Transit is one of the so-called "espelhinhos" (small-mirrors). In 2000, it was authorized to deliver local services within cities in the states of Parana, Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul with less than 30,000 habitants. In 2001, it was also authorized to deliver local services in some cities in the state of Sao Paulo with less than 70,000 habitants. In 2002, it was authorized to serve a total of 52 cities and it was granted permission to start long-distance services in the cities where it had been operational. In 2003, Transit was authorized to deliver local and long-distance services in Region III, and in the some broader areas in some areas in the states of Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais, Parana, Santa Catarina, and Rio Grande do Sul. In October 2002, Transit started operations in the state of Rio Grande do Sul. In 2003, it was also operating in one city in the state of Sao Paulo (Vinhedo) and in the main capitals of the country (Belo Horizonte, curitiba, Porto Alegre, Caxias do Sul, Rio de Janeiro, Campinas and the city of Sao Paulo).
