Transit Fleet Renewal and Replacement

The project consists of the purchase of eight new diesel buses (seven conventional buses and one para transit bus) over a fourteen year period as well as renewing major components to extend the useful life of six diesel buses. Two of the eight new bus purchases will be used for expanding the transit service with new routes. The project will provide a more reliable transit fleet with less downtime and fewer delays attributable to an aging fleet. It is anticipated that ridership will increase as well as operational efficiency. More functional accessibility features will also provide an increased reliability for accessible riders. The project will improve the capacity of the public transit system, improve the quality and safety of existing and future transit systems as well as improve access to public transit system in the Town of Collingwood.
