Description
Description | The project consists of the construction of a new permanent downtown Transit Hub in Brampton, Ontario. The project scope will also include the construction of a temporary bus facility during demolition of the existing facility with 10 bus stops/bays for Brampton Transit and GO Transit, and space for customer service operations. The new hub will more than double the capacity of the terminal (from 7 to 16 bays), which will allow for the doubling of number of trips that currently service the terminal from 1,100 to 2,200 daily trips, and doubling the number of passenger trips from 15,000 to 30,000 daily trips. This will equate to an additional 2.1 million annual ridership on Brampton Transit services. The new hub will be future-proofed for a possible switch to electric buses, and will include shelter/canopy, bus layover, rider pick-up/drop-off, traffic and signals priority control, sales area, rider interior waiting area, concession, washroom facilities, drivers lounge/facilities and administrative space. The project will result in improved capacity, quality and safety and access to the public infrastructure system in Brampton, Ontario. |
