Description
Description | The project involves the development and construction of a new public transit operation, maintenance and storage facility for the public transit bus fleet (phase 1), while providing for the future installation of infrastructure to service electric buses, and allow for the implementation of additional services required to meet future customer demand (phase 2). The project scope includes construction of a new, approximately 400,000 square foot, transit maintenance & storage facility with up to 36 maintenance bays and approximately 40 overhead garage doors to accommodate approximately 250 standard size (40 foot) buses as well as administrative and maintenance support space. The project scope also includes fixed and mobile hoists, vehicle inspection pit, an overhead crane, fuel storage and dispensing, oil and lubrication processing systems, vehicle location and radio systems, and backup electricity generation, and construction of a new, approximately 250,000 square foot, parking structure. In addition, Brampton Transit will commission a transit network electrification feasibility analysis and rollout plan as well as a sustainable fleet transition strategy. The project will result in the improved capacity of public transit infrastructure, and improved quality and safety of the existing and future transit system in Brampton, Ontario. |
