Transit Route Access Improvements

• The project includes the construction of four active transportation corridors located on existing transit routes throughout the City: o Pulford Street / California Avenue, Norfolk to Daytona - Construction of Bicycle Lanes (0.5km) and Sidewalks (0.3km); o Matchette Road, Chappell to Broadway - Construction of a Multi-Use Trail (1.7km); o Little River Pedestrian Bridge South of McHugh Street (40m); and o Little River Pedestrian Bridge between Hawthorne and Esplanade (40m). • The goals of the project are as follows: o To improve the functionality and time efficiency for public transit users accessing existing bus stops by creating new trails, sidewalks and bicycle lanes; o To improve the safety of public transit users accessing existing bus stops by creating new trails, sidewalks and bicycle lanes; and o To work towards a City-wide goal of building seamless connections between active and public transportation. • The project will result in improved capacity of public transit infrastructure, improved quality and safety of existing or future transit systems and improved access to the public transit system in the City of Windsor, Ontario.
