The Transit Scheduling System Project (the Project) includes the one-time purchase of 4 years of consulting and scheduling services along with related data reporting tools, for the purpose of planning and adapting bus schedules and service adjustments post-COVID. Due to the dynamic nature of demand under COVID-recovery and the lack of staffing resources, consulting support is needed along with additional tools to undertake a review of services and make ongoing adjustments over an extended period. This Project is expected to produce a number of reports and data tools that will be used by the City for transit scheduling. The City of Medicine Hat will analyze service and make continuous modifications over a 4-year period, as ridership recovers from COVID impacts. Based on data provided through Consat360 services, the City of Medicine Hat will be able to make informed service decisions and recommendations on revising service levels (i.e., route modification, frequency of service, hours of operation etc.), with the goal of finding efficiencies in service delivery as demand fluctuates to reduce long-term operating costs. The City is also looking to enhance customer experience and stimulate ridership growth. The software and services will be used as a data collection tool to analyze services based on passenger count data, and will provide current and historical information to help the City make informed decisions on service improvements. Once complete, the Project will result in the improved quality and/or safety of existing and/or future public transit.
