Transit Storage Garage Replacement Study

Replacement of existing transit vehicle storage garage that was deemed substandard in 2012 Transit Operations Review. The current garage can only hold 42 buses and cannot accommodate the current fleet of 56 conventional buses and 10 specialized transit vehicles, with up to 24 buses requiring outside parking overnight. This deficiency impacts the existing maintenance schedule and ability to perform proper cleaning activities (particularly in winter) which reduces asset life, increases operational costs, and impacts customer service. The study will identify a preferred location for a new transit vehicle storage facility to accommodate 60-70 conventional buses (with room for system expansion) and will complete the Transit Project Assessment Process to obtain environmental approval for the new facility. The new facility will include a new indoor bus wash system, vehicle maintenance and cleaning / detailing area, coin processing room, vehicle fueling station, and office space for transit garage staff.
