Description

Description

A leading voice for trans people in Europe, TGEU is dedicated to building the capacity of trans organisations and activists to participate in processes and policies that impact them, and to demonstrably increase our collective impact on EU rights, equality, values, and citizenship. Activities include training and capacity building to strengthen our members and networks; analytical activities, such as documenting rights-access in EU Member States through our Trans Rights Maps, monitoring anti-trans violence, and submitting research and policy briefs to inform EU processes; facilitating mutual learning and exchange of good practices through the European Trans Council and other programmes; and conducting awareness raising, information and dissemination activities through various campaigns and communications, including IDAHOT and the Trans Day of Remembrance, employing an intersectional and gender equity lens throughout. This programme will support: 1. A strong TGEU with sustainable operations, resources, and staff to capacitate and mobilise its members; 2. Strong TGEU members and civil society networks with the capacity, information, and skills to encourage the inclusive and intersectional development and implementation of EU policy and programmatic priorities, including the EU LGBTIQ Equality Strategy; and, 3. Advocacy, information dissemination, and communications to support the EU and Member States in countering discrimination, hate speech, and violence; championing equality in access to health care and employment; pursuing justice through the Rule of Law; and fully implementing the LGBTIQ Equality Strategy. Support from the EC will demonstrate support for the trans community represented, including 99 organisations in 26 EU Member States and 23 in Accession Countries, at a time when anti-trans discrimination, violence and economic exclusion and the aftermath of a global pandemic increasingly burden an already marginalised community.
