Description | The Fifth Transmigration Project will: (a) support the planning of transmigration and other development programs in the Other Islands by accelerating the national mapping program; (b) promote the welfare of transmigrants and local people through better physical planning of settlements; (c) improve the quality and economic viability of the transmigration program by providing program support to the Ministry of Transmigration; and (d) strengthen the skills of GOI staff and domestic consultants. The Fifth Transmigration Project will finance: (a) a four-year time slice of the national mapping program consisting of aerial photography, and the networks in the Other Islands; (b) physical planning for 300,000 sponsored and spontaneous transmigrant families to be settled in Sumatra, Kalimantan and Irian Jaya; and (c) a transmigration program review, technical assistance, and training for the project executing agencies and domestic consultants. |
