Transnational Music Lab (TMLAB) is a cross-cultural collaborative initiative uniting five vibrant European cities—Turin, Madrid, Lyon, Athens, and Brussels—dedicated to reshaping the music landscape. The project's core mission is to empower emerging artists and curators from underrepresented communities (including women, BIPOC, LGBTQ+, immigrants, refugees), recognizing the urgent need to address persistent disparities in the music industry. The contemporary art and music landscape, particularly within the realm of underrepresented genres, faces significant barriers hindering the recognition and development of young, talented artists, DJs, and curators across Europe. Existing platforms often lack inclusivity, accessibility, and resources necessary to support and amplify the voices of emerging creatives in these fields. This leads to a marginalization of diverse perspectives, limiting not only the growth and representation of underrepresented music cultures within the global scene but also the participation & stronger engagement of the millennials & generation Z. TMLAB aims to support emerging talents through live events, touring opportunities, and radio shows, showcasing the evolving music scenes in Europe. Beyond exposure, the project focuses on capacity-building events, providing skills, mentorship, and networks vital for empowering new emerging talent. The project prioritizes online community radios as a digital hub, creating a space for radio producers and a resource center for talent discovery ensuring a global reach. All partners bring a unique blend of artistic expertise, community engagement, and a forward-thinking approach and share a common mission, vision, and commitment to empowering emerging talents from diverse backgrounds. While all partners have engaged in small-scale collaborations and exchanges, TMLAB marks the collective aspiration to work at a greater scale, pooling resources and expertise to achieve a common mission.
