Description
Description | The FC measures are intended to help the Limpopo National Park (LNP), together with the Kruger National Park (KNP) in South Africa and the Gonarezhou National Park in Zimbabwe, form a transnational conservation area as the Great Limpopo Transfrontier Park (GLTP) in which ecologically valuable resources are protected and used sustainably and the livelihoods of the local population and future generations are secured (overall objective). The FC contribution aims to establish an efficient park administration and to develop the LNP in an economically and ecologically sustainable manner. This is intended to create a stable environment to enable private investment in tourism (project objective). The target groups of the project are the rural population living within the park and in its host zone and the private sector that lives from natural resources and tourism. The project essentially includes financial support for the voluntary relocation of villages located in the core zone of the LNP, the financing of an implementation consultant (construction monitoring), support for park and project management and additional investments in infrastructure, science and research as well as training and awareness-raising measures. The Great Limpopo Park Transnational Nature Reserves project consists of the following SADC phases and a bilateral phase: Phase III (2008 66 061), Phase IV (2011 66 008), Phase V (2012 66 527), Phase VI (2014 68 743), Bilateral Phase (2014 68 768). |
