Transport by light utility vehicles

The objective of the project is developing new harmonised statistics needed to support policies within the European Green Deal which will allow to present a transition to new transport and mobility patterns as well as compiling European transport statistics in areas which currently form information gaps. Works will focus on these action: Action 1: Transport by light utility vehicles. Measures defined and calculated within Action 1 will enable characterisation the measurement of the scale of freight transport, distances and cargo transport in the light utility vehicle (LUV) segment and tracking changes in urban freight transport in Poland which has importance for urban mobility and, in broader context, has key significance for functioning of urban economies. Statistical data regarding this area are also important in the light of dynamic development of new transport patterns associated with an increase in e-commerce activities, home deliveries as well as care for the environment because light utility vehicles, have a low share in goods tonnage, they perform a high number of kilometres, especially in urban areas, causing congestion and increased emission of pollution. Implementation of Action 1 will bring tangible results in terms of improving the quality of data and their comparability as well as broadening the scope of disseminated metadata, which will allow meeting national and international needs.
