Description
Description | These projects make incremental improvements to the transportation system from a safety perspective: 1. Odell Roudabout: this project creates a safe pedestrian and active transportation crossing at the intersection of Waggoners/Rookwood and Odell Park. It also strengthens the connection between Odell Park and the Valley Trail/Trans Canada trail. 2. Maple Street at Douglas Ave Pedestrian Actuated signalized Crosswalk: This project encourages safe pedestrian movements by establishing a pedestrian activated lighted crosswalk at the intersection. 3. Forest Hill Road Pedestrian Actuated Signalized Crosswalk: this project encourages safe pedestrian movements by establishing a pedestrian activated lighted crosswalk that connects to an extension of a sidewalk noted above. This will provide a crosswalk at an important pedestrian desire line on a busy street. 4. Fulton Ave Trail Crossing Island: This project constructs a refuge island on Fulton Ave at the intersection of the Northside Trail. This project creates a safe refuge space for trail users while also signaling to vehicles that a crossing is present. 5. Downtown Street Restrictions and pedestrian improvements: These projects reduce the width of the street to provide pedestrians with better visibility and a shorter crossing distance. 6. All-Way Stop Control at Windsor St and Kings College Rd: This project changes the current regulatory configuration to a 4 way stop condition to improve pedestrian safety adjacent to the University of New Brunswick. |
