Description

Description

The Transwestern Desert Southwest pipeline is a natural gas pipeline from the Permian Basin in west Texas to the Phoenix, Arizona area. The project has been upsized to use a 48-inch diameter pipe instead of the originally planned 42-inch pipe, increasing its maximum capacity from 1.5 billion cubic feet per day to 2.3 billion cubic feet per day. This expansion is to meet strong market demand, particularly from Arizona utilities to supply natural gas for AI data centers and industrial operations. The project involves a 516-mile-long pipeline expansion and an investment of $5.6 billion, up from the previously announced $5.3 billion. Construction is expected to employ 5,000 workers and use only American-made steel. The pipeline is expected to be completed by late 2029.
