The Trieste Film Festival is the only film festival in Italy to focus exclusively on Central Eastern European cinema and to offer the audience never-before-seen Italian and international premieres as well as a wide programme of films and activities dedicated to all age groups. The request for support from the MEDIA programme of Creative Europe is therefore aimed at supporting the 35th and 36th editions. Over the years, our event has become a unique appointment in Italy with Central Eastern European cinema, being the only festival dedicated to this vast area, through scientific and scrupulous research and networking activities for more than 30 years. Over the last ten years, the festival has grown and expanded, reaffirming a strong international vocation that over the years has taken the form of dozens of partnerships with other film festivals, film archives, cultural institutes. Briefly, the structure of the programme includes competitive sections (features, documentaries, short films), focuses & homages, retrospectives, special awards, sidebar events, educational and training programmes. The festival is also a very important film industry centre at a European level, as it co-organises When East Meets West co-production forum, which brings together more than 600 industry professionals from more than 40 countries.
