Description	In December of 2002, Ondeo (the water subsidiary of SUEZ) was awarded a four year management contract by the Ministry of Energy and Water (MEW) of Lebanon for the water utility of Tripoli. Ondeo beat out Vivendi, the only other bidder for the euro 9 million contract. The project was expected to provide Tripoli with 85,000 cubic meters of water a day for 350,000 customers. According to MEW, about 50% of Lebanon's water was being wasted; this percentage was projected to drop to 15% under the management contract. The contract was being financed by a US$21 million soft loan from the Agence Française de Développement (AFD) and provided for Ondeo to repair and expand wastewater treatment plants and water supply networks. The contract concluded in December 2006 and it was not renewed or extended by the government. The management of the water utility went back to the government. By end of 2006, it was unclear another PPI contract would be issued for Tripoli in the future. None None
