Description
Description | The proposed project aims to support Turkiye in reducing industrial air pollutant and GHG emissions. The industrial sector is one of the key emitting sectors of air pollutants and GHG emissions. The project is designed as a series of projects, each of which would focus on key emitting sectors including residential heating and urban transportation. Specifically, the proposed project will finance emission reduction interventions in key polluting industries, falling under the national regulations and EU directive and policy requirements targeting industrial emissions. The project will be implemented by Development and Investment Bank of Turkiye (TKYB) and will finance investments in adopting air pollutant and/or GHG emission reduction technologies in industries by sub-loans provided through TKYB.It will allow industrial emitters to make investments that will result in substantial emission reductions in line with national regulations and EU legislative and policy requirements. Emission reduction interventions to be supported under this Project include i) measures that reduce emissions to air, as outlined in the sector-specific Best Available Techniques (BAT) under the EU IED (2010/75/EU) including process-specific clean production measures to shift from high air pollutant and GHG emission processes and abatement measures to control emissions to air; ii) sector-specific priorities and measures targeting air pollutant and GHG emissions within the Low-Carbon Pathway Roadmaps and Green Growth Technology Roadmap under Green Deal Action Plan. Therefore, the project will support cleaner industrial production practices aligned with national and industrial policies and lifetime reduction of air pollutants and GHGs from selected industries. Furthermore, the project would contribute to spurring the market and increasing the uptake of clean production practices in industries and enhance competitiveness of Turkish industries. Overall, the project will contribute to clean air and climate change mitigation in Turkiye. |
