Description | Türkiye plans a record year in renewable energy capacity additions in 2026, aiming to accelerate growth to meet its 2035 target of 120 GW installed renewable capacity. The country added over 8 GW of new renewable capacity in 2025, including 6 GW solar and nearly 2 GW wind. Major grid and storage investments are planned, including a five-year, nationwide investment and maintenance program worth around 1 trillion liras for electricity distribution networks and $30 billion in grid investments over the next decade. Energy storage capacity of 2-3 GW is expected to come online gradually from 2026. Additionally, an 840 MW natural gas power plant in Kırklareli is planned for commissioning in Q1 2026. |
