Originally developed by Soviet engineers in the 1980s, the mine was abandoned after the Iron Curtain fell but remains one of Europe's most significant antimony deposits. Owned by Canada-based Military Metals Corp, the project aims to reactivate the mine to supply antimony, a critical metal used in military equipment and other applications. The project also includes plans to develop refining capacity either onsite or in Germany and Sweden to establish a full supply chain from mining to processing. |
