"This project entails the construction of the Troncal Magdalena 2 Highway, covering the section between Sabana de Torres in the Santander department and Curumaní in the Cesar department, Colombia. Also known as Ruta del Sol 2, the project includes the development of 6 road intersections, 43 bridges, and 40 pedestrian bridges. It will modernize 116.2 km of existing roads and build 66.4 km of new carriageway. Additionally, the project is expected to generate over 40,000 direct and indirect jobs. This initiative is part of the Fifth Generation of Infrastructure projects portfolio in Colombia. The sponsors for this project are KMA Construcciones and Grupo Ortiz. The total project cost is $866m (COP$3,64bn) with the IDB Invest providing a loan for $63m. The construction start date was in September 9th, 2024.
