Description

Description

The ASFINAG Truck Parking Area Development (TPAD) project focuses on the expansion of truck parking spaces along Austria's critical transport routes, particularly the A12 and A14 motorways. These routes are vital parts of the Trans-European Transport Network (TENT), linking Austria with neighbouring countries like Germany and Italy. The TPAD project aims to address the significant shortage of truck parking spaces on Austria's motorways. The project will develop an additional 82 truck parking spaces across three rest areas: Walgau South, Telfs North and Haiming South. This expansion seeks to enhance safety for truck drivers, reduce accidents caused by unsafe parking practices, and improve overall traffic flow. In addition to increasing capacity, the project integrates modern safety features, such as surveillance systems, improved lighting, and fencing, to minimize cargo theft and protect drivers. Sustainability is a core focus, with green infrastructure like energy-efficient lighting and advanced water management systems incorporated into the design. The initiative also aims to reduce CO2 emissions by optimizing parking utilization. The project reflects a strong commitment to meeting the demands of modern freight transport while enhancing driver safety, environmental sustainability, and infrastructure quality.
