Description
Description | Newly launched renewables platform Anthem has achieved financial close on a 20-MWac/23.14-MWdc solar project in the Southern African country of Eswatini. The project is backed by Standard Bank Eswatini and Standard Bank South Africa as senior lenders, with the Public Service Pension Fund (PSPF) providing both debt and equity as a strategic partner. The Tsamela Solar site marks the first project under the ESERA Solar PV procurement programme initiated by the Eswatini Energy Regulatory Authority to reach this milestone. It was awarded to Anthem to deliver solar generation to the Eswatini Electricity Company (EEC) and is aimed at strengthening national energy security and supporting the transition toward increased renewable energy generation. Located in the Hhohho Region near Ngwenya, the site spans 44.8 hectares and will accommodate more than 37,000 bifacial solar panels. The facility is already under construction, led by Alensy Energy Solutions. Once operational, expected within 15 months, the plant will produce around 47,788 MWh of clean electricity annually. |
