Description

Description

The TTC Steeles Pioneer Village Station project involved the cut and cover construction of a new underground subway station. Major components included a subway station with platform, concourse, and entrance/exit levels topped off by a saddle slab, a 12-bay bus terminal, launch and extraction shafts for the tunnel boring machine, and an electrical substation to power the line for the tunnel extension. The project required coordination with various government entities, such as the City of Toronto, the City of Vaughan, and the Region of York. The project was designed to meet the Toronto Transit Commission’s very stringent quality requirements. The job is being built to Toronto Green Standards, which includes sustainable features common to those used to attain LEED certification, including an extensive green roof, natural lighting, sediment and erosion control, and 90 percent waste diversion.
