Description | The Tulbul Navigation Project, also called Wullar Barrage, is located at the mouth of the Wullar Lake near Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district. It was originally conceived in the early 1980s to build a barrage that will regulate water flow and help in power generation downstream. The project was stalled due to Pakistan's objections since 2016 when almost 90% of the work had been completed. With the Indus Water Treaty in abeyance, the Indian government is moving to revive the project to benefit Kashmir in terms of better availability of water and power. |
