Description
Description | The Project for the Development of the Vision and Strategy for the Water Sector in 2050 for Tunisia (UAE 2050) aims to provide the Government with a long-term vision and strategy, translated into action plans for the development and sustainable management of the water sector. It was designed to improve the governance of water resources within an integrated and long-term management vision. The main expected outcomes of the project in the medium term are: the adoption by the Government of the water sector strategy by 2050 for Tunisia, as a single intervention framework for all actors and the financing of the priority actions of the first action plans. This project is perfectly justified and constitutes a priority for the country in view of: (i) the current situation of the country below the threshold of water stress and the significant risk of its deterioration by 2030; (ii) the almost total mobilization of the country's conventional water potential; (iii) the obligations imposed by the new Constitution of 26 January 2014. The total cost of the project is €2,655,000, it will be co-financed by a grant from the AWF for an amount of €1,345,000, representing 50.7% of the total cost. The project activities are structured around three components: (1) Development of the vision and strategy and implementation action plans; (2) Technical assistance; and (3) Project management and stakeholder participation. |
