Tunisia - Secondary Education Support PAES (Phase I)

The proposed project is in line with the sectoral priorities of the Government and the Bank Group, and meets a clear social demand for education. To improve institutional performance and internal efficiency of the system, the project will provide, in the form of various activities, the necessary and additional support to the Government’s effort. The project has three components: (i) Expansion of the Secondary Education Intake Capacity; (ii) Enhancing the Quality of the Education System; and (iii) Institutional Support. The expected outputs : expansion of intake capacity of 40 new institutions to be built; strengthening of the teaching mechanism and the education system management; improvement in teacher training; mprovement in the efficiency of secondary education; and high school student population slightly proportional to the number of preparatory school leavers. The project total cost, net of taxes, is estimated at UA 58.54 million. Its implementation will cover a period of five years.
