The proposed project will implement aesthetic treatments at the over-crossings and entrances to Sonora. These gateway elements are intended to express local sense of place and identity. The aesthetic treatments are intended to contribute to local and regional character allowing residents and visitors alike to enjoy the beautify of the corridor, improve the county's public image and have a positive influence on Tuolumne County’s tourist-based economy and welcome our visitors. An additional site in City of Sonora is proposed to add some beautification features (e.g. artistic fencing) to a vacant Caltrans Maintenance Yard at Mono Way/Greenley Rd. Additionally, it is proposed to add a gateway monument sign within the triangular shape state property that will remain after the SR 49/Parrots Ferry road intersection is realigned and currently under construction.
