Description

Description

Around 3.77 million Syrian refugees are currently registered in Turkey. The integration of Syrian women into the formal labor market is one of the greatest challenges. According to estimates, around 1 million Syrian women are currently working in the informal sector. The reasons for the lack of integration of Syrian women into the formal labor market are complex. The project addresses the removal of some of these obstacles. The project consists of three packages of measures (i) qualification measures for formal employment via a paid work-based learning (WBL) program, (ii) the formalization of informal jobs through the registration of micro-enterprises by setting up information centers (so-called BILMER) and (iii) the integration of SuTP and Turks into the primary labor market by paying social security contributions and costs for the work permit for SuTP. The project is implemented by the International Labor Organization (ILO) as the direct recipient of funds and project sponsor.
