Description | In August 1996, Acuantioquia SA (state-owned) awarded a 15 year operation contract (operation, maintenence and administration) for the water and sewerage services of Turbo Municipality to SAGAS-HYDRA. The contract was signed in Nov 10996 and the operator started to provide the services in Nov 1996. At that time only 2,549 connections were paying water bills although the total number of users was estimated at 8,000. By 2004, the paying user amounted to 8,158 and water coverage ratio to 74,16%. Sep 18 1997 consortium SAGAS-HYDRA transfered its position to Conhydra S.A. ESP, On Dec 14 1999 Acuantioquia S.A. ESP sold the system to Turbo Municipality. May 19 2006 Turbo gave its position in the contract to Aguas de Urabá S.A. ESP. (state-owned enterprise. When the concession ended the contract went managed by Aguas de Uraba. Further information was not available, the company website shows operation, but may be out of date. |
