Description

The Colombian company Tecnologica Intercontinental (Ticsa) was awarded the 20-year contract to build and operate two wastewater treatment plants named PTAR Tuchtlan (ID# 8696) and PTAR Paso Limon (Tuxtla Gutierrez, state of Chiapas). A total of 600,000 people benefitted from the project. In November 2006, the sponsor had established the special purpose company Ecosistemas de Tuxtla S.A. de C.V. to lead the project. Detailed information on the project award process led by the state government was not available. PTAR Paso Limon was set to have a capacity of 400 liters/second (34.6 m3/day). The investment was estimated at US$ 19.9 million (Pesos 316.2 million), of which 26% was financed with funds from the federal government. Construction works commenced in April 2013, and as of early 2015, the construction works were in its final stages. In May 2013, the Colombian company EPM acquired 80% of Ticsa's shares for US$ 113 million. The remaining 20% of the shares were held by the Mexican family Primelles.
