Description | The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) is considering changing its electricity rates to accommodate the growing power demands of data centers without placing undue cost increases on residents. The TVA sent a letter to local power companies in February to begin the rate-changing process and plans to propose actions for implementation to its board of directors in August at the earliest. Data centers currently make up around 18% of TVA's industrial load, expected to double by 2030, with a potential increased power demand of 11,000 megawatts if all interested data centers are approved in East Tennessee. |
